EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR (ED)
Francis holds a Masters in Public Administration from the Malawi Institute of Management, a Bachelors of Public Administration from the University of Malawi, and a Diploma in Result-Based Management from the Malawi Institute of Management. Francis also holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Theology from the University of Malawi through St. Peter’s Catholic Major Seminary. Francis is the founder of Youth Coalition for the Consolidation of Democracy (YCD) and previously worked for the Royal Norwegian Embassy to Malawi. In 2015, he was awarded the Children’s Justice Award by the Chief of Justice of the highest court in Malawi for his working protecting children and upholding the law.
Cecilia has a Diploma in Anaesthesia and Intensive Care Medicine and a Bachelor of Arts Project Management from the University of Malawi. She previously worked for three years as a Project Coordinator for the Ministry of Gender, Women, and Children’s Affairs and now works as the Chief Anaesthetic at St. Montfort Hospital, as well as serving as the Program Manager for the Adolescent Youth for a Change Initiative.
Joao has been with YCD since 2014 and is involved in supporting project design and planning.
CHERRY MAFUNGA JAMU
CHILD PROTECTION MANAGER
Cherry has been working with YCD since its inception in 2012. She is chiefly responsible for managing YCD’s partnerships with the prisons, police stations, and courts and ensuring the support of these institutions in advancing the organization’s protection of vulnerable youth. Cherry also arranges large-scale campaigns against child marriage with community leaders in the region and has conducted hundreds of visits to the local prisons, courts, and police. She holds a Diploma in Human Resource Management from The Malawi Polytechnic in Blantyre.
SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM OFFICER, ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT
Originally from Nchalo, Allan has been with YCD since its inception in 2012. He is involved in community surveying, conducting needs assessments to identify YCD beneficiaries, provisioning of supplies to support schoolchildren, and monitoring and evaluation through home and school visits.
MEDIA AND DEVELOPMENT OFFICER
Martin joined YCD in 2015, chiefly managing the public relations efforts of YCD. He holds a diploma in Journalism from the Malawi Institute of Journalism.
